This website is dedicated to providing content regarding family and children activities around Los Angeles.  In time
our reach will include all of Southern California from San Diego to Santa Barbara.
Our goal is to enhance what has become one of the centerpieces of social activity outside of school and sports
among families with young children, the playdate.  Our intent is to provide families with fresh activity ideas weekly.
This started as a personal quest to find fun new things to do with our friends and as our list grew we decided to
share what we have discovered.

There is so much information available that sometimes it is overwhelming to find what you are looking for.  Have
you ever started searching for one thing and ended up hours later off track, empty handed and brain dead?  Our
goal is to narrow the choices and make your search for fun things to do with family and friends easier and much
more fun.

We provide information on local activities and events that provide entertainment and education for families and
their friends.  The featured content of this site is individually selected by us because it has a unique experience,
product or service that we feel you will enjoy.  Some of it might already be widely advertised such as newly
released movies and concerts.  But mostly we try to bring you unique activities to choose from and provide you with
an easy way to make it happen.

In the near future we will be able to enhance your experience by providing you the opportunity to arrange your
playdates with your friends right from the website.  We are working very hard to make this happen soon.  In the
meantime you will find links to various venues for birthday parties, after school and weekend playtimes, indoor or
outdoor activities, what's happening at the mall and more.  Also featured are fashion ideas for the whole family,
where to go for concerts and movies, especially for kids, and a place to purchase tickets either right on the website
or a link to a place where you can.

We hope you enjoy using the ideas from this website and check in frequently to see the improvements and
changes that will be implemented soon.

Helping new parents and caregivers in our local community is our goal.  How do we do that you may ask?  By
providing information that is needed to save time and energy.  Want to know what's going on for the Weekend?
What's new at Disneyland?  What's new at the Box Office for my Preschooler?

Playdates in LA.com describes each venue and location to help parents be prepared as much as possible before
they reach their destination.
Playdates in LA.com will take you to destinations in Los Angeles that are children- friendly.  Saving parents time is
our goal.  With that being said, we will try our best to give you information like:
  • Price, location, hours, phone number, web address
  • Restaurants
  • Current and upcoming exhibits, concerts
...And more

Enjoy your visit!!
What is a playdate?

A play date or playdate is an arranged appointment for children to get together for a few hours to play. Playdates
have become the standard for children of many western cultures because the work schedules for busy parents,
along with media warnings about leaving children unattended, prevent the kind of play that children of other
generations participated in. Playdates are also arranged by destinations that feature child-friendly programs like
museums, parks or playgrounds.

The intention for a playdate is for children to have time to play either in a supervised location or on a computer.
Playdates are different from activities or scheduled sports because they are not usually as structured.

Playdates are a late 20th century innovation. Playdates are becoming part of the vernacular of popular culture, and
are a form of children's down time. Most parents prefer that children use these hours to form friendships with
one-on-one play or with small groups. With young children, most parents stay for a playdate and use that time to
form their own friendships and parental alliances.
